Independence Day
September 30, 1966 Botswana’s Independence Day
We were able to meet the chief of our village and talk about the United States. It was an interesting day full of traditional dancing, poetry, and singing. We were able to spend the day with friends from our church and enjoy all the celebrations that the village had to offer.
Here I am with some of my students who performed in the traditional dance at the Kgotla.
Here we are with the chief from left to right Kelly, me, Chief Ndebele, Maria (a Brazilian missionary in Palapye) and Emily.
It has started to get hot here very fast. There is no spring or fall we go straight from winter to summer and summer to winter. Due to the heat I got my hair cut so that I wouldn’t sweat so much. Let me know what you think.
