The guys here in Botswana are very different than in the states it is common to see them peeing on the side of the road and also holding hands especially pinkies. It is not so accepted for girls to hold hands but guys do all the time. It definitely takes time to get used to.

He has a very valid question!

I hear ya sister...there are guys peeing on the side of the road all the time here and there are kids doing whatever business they need to take care of wherever they please. Yikes!

Welcome to Africa. Sounds like something we need to add to the regional office orientation time. Actually, it seems that the Africa concept of privacy at such times is that if you don't look, you don't see them and they are private.

Don't know about Botswana, but in Kenya, even the ladies take care of business "in public" (in places) -- another use for the kanga (wrap) or a long skirt!!

I agree with Bob about the privacy thing. People go in the middle of the streets here in Moz without a care in the world. I had to step lively to avoid walking through a stream the other day, and I don't mean a stream on the ground...
