American Store

When I was in Johannesburg we went to an American Store. It is what the Botswana people think that America is like. There were all kinds of cowboy hats and western garb in the store. So I am posing in front of the store next to the patriotic Native American. :) I have started teaching classes and building more relationships. Friday is Independence Day! I am excited about getting to celebrate that and a long weekend.

Sorrow

This young boy's mother is in the hospital with tuberculosis and pneumonia. Both of these diseases combined shows that there is a high chance that his mother has HIV. The young boy along with his younger brother are staying with friends and may soon become orphans. The saddest thing of all is that his mother is only 20 years old.

Home Sweet Home

Here is my flat and my flatmates. They are a little smelly and dirty but we have fun together. This upcoming week I am going through lesson plans and trying to finish up training before I go into the schools to start teaching. Please pray that I will find a Botswanan person to teach with me. Oh and the name of my guard dogs are Nina and Jabu. They have a mean bark and are very protective but they love to be pet.

Operation HIV

I spent the last week in the bush for Operation HIV conference. It was a nice time of bonding with other missionaries and nationals who will teaching about AIDS and HIV in the schools. We discussed things we needed to work on and did a lot of team building activities. It was neat meeting people from all over Botswana. We saw some warthogs, kudo, impala, and ostriches. There were two tame ostriches we got to pet and feed. This next week I will going through Crossroads training which is some material that I will be teaching in the schools. Here is a beautiful sunset I was able to enjoy.
